It all started at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C. in January 2017, when my mom and I made shirts to exercise our right to speak out and stand up. I remember seeing the crowds of passionate and super friendly people and that is when I knew I wanted to do more for my community and the world. Since then I’ve made it my mission to think about others and to find ways to help those in need – all over the country.
And then I hit an obstacle over and over again…
The more I looked for ways to give back to the community, the more people told me that I was “too young” to volunteer. But, that didn’t seem right… after all I may be 6 now, but my ideas are powerful and every child should have the chance to help others, no matter their age. If the world needs future leaders to be compassionate and caring, then it starts now with us kids doing our part. And, that is how Cool & Dope was born.
My very first giveback campaign was when I went through all of my clothes and toys to donate to others. I was 3.5 years old then, but I loved being able to see other kids be happy getting the things that they needed. After that me and my mom would find as many ways as possible for me to help others and to be a good citizen.
One of my favorite things is to use my voice to stand up for what is right and to show people that kids can be responsible, caring, and can achieve anything.
My community is important to me and the more I giveback, the more energy I get to do even more for others. I want to show other kids around the world that even though we may be small, our voices should be heard, our ideas should be embraced, and our chance to change the world is now!
Cool & Dope will be the fuel we all need to ignite the spirit of togetherness and positivity.
